Three-Story Living Beneath Centuries-Old Oak Beams & the Historic Roof
Apartment 3 (“Altes Gebälk”) is the flagship residence of our 1607 half-timbered house. Spanning approximately 165 m² across three interconnected levels—from the 1st and 2nd floors all the way up into the cozy top-floor attic (Dachgeschoss) directly beneath the historic roof rafters—it comfortably accommodates 4 to 12 guests.
Blending soaring original oak timberwork, generous social spaces for cooking and dining together, and peaceful bedrooms tucked under the eaves, this multi-floor residence is ideal for families, reunions, and groups of friends.
Three-Level Layout (1st Floor, 2nd Floor & Top-Floor Attic)
- 1st Floor: Two tranquil double bedrooms, each furnished with a 180 × 200 cm king-size bed, alongside a modern bathroom with shower and WC.
- 2nd Floor & 45 m² Sun Terrace: An expansive living area framed by exposed 17th-century beams featuring an oversized sleeper sofa (200 × 200 cm) and an additional comfortable sleeper sofa (160 × 200 cm), a full kitchen with a sociable bar counter and long solid-wood dining table, and a second newly renovated designer bathroom with twin natural stone vessel sinks on a solid oak vanity and a walk-in shower. From this level, step directly onto the 45 m² Bankirai hardwood sun terrace (newly built in February 2023), complete with lounge seating, a large barbecue grill (€15 fee), and views toward the Steeg vineyards and Castle Stahlberg.
- Top Floor / Dachgeschoss (Beneath the Historic 1607 Roof): Following the wooden staircase up to the uppermost floor of the apartment reveals two warm, reclaimed-timber-lined bedrooms tucked beneath the sloped roof rafters for up to 4 guests—one bedroom with a cozy 140 × 200 cm bed beneath the gable skylight, and a second bedroom with two separate single beds (90 × 200 cm each).
- Restored Vaulted Wine Cellar & Whole-House Group Stays: Beneath the house, our lovingly restored centuries-old vaulted stone wine cellar and guest WC can be reserved by arrangement for memorable group evenings enjoying local Steeg Riesling. Combined with Apartments 1 and 2, the entire house sleeps up to 20 guests under one roof.
